Outdoor Farmer's Market Season is here!
/There’s something magical about the return of outdoor farmers markets in spring — tulips are in bloom, crisp radishes and tender lettuces ready for harvest, and a community coming to life with every open aired market. Matt and I are lucky to be part of two outdoor markets, the Aquidneck Grower’s Market on Wednesdays as well as Casey Farm in Saunderstown on select Saturdays. You can check our calendar here to learn when we will be popping up our new navy blue market tent! ;)
We popped up this Saturday morning at the Aquidneck Grower’s Market’s opening day of their new location at the Newport County YMCA. What a lovely grassy field spot for the AGM surrounded by trees! Thank you to the YMCA for welcoming the AGM and all of us lucky vendors to your location and with your family community!
Before I ran off to open our shop for the day at 640 Thames St., I picked up a lovely arrangement of petite tulips in antique rose and cream tones from Isa at My Sweet P’s Flower Farm, Matt grabbed fresh radishes from Root Farm, and we couldn’t resist some mushrooms from Johann at the RI Mushroom Company for tomorrow’s dinner with steak. For now, we’re looking forward to a relaxed Saturday evening in — starting with a snack board of sliced radishes, creamy (unsalted) butter, a crusty baguette, and of course, a sprinkle of our sea salt. I’ll add some crunchy cornichons, a few favorite cheeses to round it out as well as a crisp dry Rosato.
Cheese board on the side. :)
As we move from cool spring mornings into sunnier summer days, follow along with Casey Farm and Aquidneck Community Table Socials (as well as us!) to find out what is in season and waiting for you at the market. Just a note, sea salt is always in season and our local handcrafted Newport Sea Salt will be the perfect finish to your farmer’s market meals! SEA you out there!
Cheers,
Tami
